Two-for-One Cards

Written by:

Hello, Friends! Welcome to my first blog post! I created two cards using the same dies – Be Bold Blooms and Scrolled Punch & Pierce Plate – from Spellbinders.

I cut all the floral pieces from white cardstock and used inks from Pink Fresh Studio and Concord and 9th to color them with my blending brushes. I love the way I can create a little bit of dimension by ink blending the colors instead of cutting the blooms from colored cardstock.

To create the first card, I cut the background die from white cardstock, removed the two center pieces, added foam tape to the back of the outside frame, and adhered it to the card base. I then created the bouquet and adhered the individual blooms with a combination of foam tape and liquid glue.

I added a Tim Holtz foiled sentiment sticker by attaching it to a skinny cardstock strip and popping it up with foam tape. Finally, peach colored pearls were added to the centers of some flowers and accents to finish off the card.

I used the leftover pieces from the first card to make a quick second card on a Neenah Desert Storm card base. I colored the thanks sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and CZ Design using Copic markers. To give a little more dimension, I cut some scrap cardstock just a little smaller than the background piece and layered it up.

Finally, I added the die cut flower using a foam dot. I decided not to add any embellishments to allow the beautiful pierced detail of the background to be the focus.
